Know More About Super Mario Kart

November 21, 2009 in Articles by Trish

Super Mario Kart is the foremost video game in the series of Mario Kart. It was released in the year 1992 for the ‘Super Nintendo Entertainment System’. In this game, players have to race go-karts being one of 8 characters in the Super Mario series. It traits the most advanced graphics for time, all thanks to the use of ‘Mode 7 texture mapping’ being made. Super Mario Kart ranks third in the list of all the best-selling games on SNES, with over eight million copies sold.

Game-play

Super Mario Kart could either be used by 1 or 2 players at a time. All of its game play makes use of a mandatory split screen view. While playing in the one player mode, the upper part of the screen shows the course, conversely in the bottom part of the screen you can either opt for the display of a rear-view mirror’s perception, or the overhead perspective of the entire track, showing the exact current position of all the other racers. On the other hand, in the multiplayer mode, the lower screen displays the view of the second player.

There are 2 distinct one-player modes. In the Grand Prix mode, one player has to race seven other computer-controlled racers. The available engine classes are of 150cc, 100cc and 50cc. The larger class engines end up in much speeding vehicles and a higher level of complexity of the game. There are 4 different cups to choose from: the Special Cups (these are for the 150cc and 100cc only), Mushroom, Star, and Flower. Each of these cups consists of 5 tracks and the racing player must at least receive the fourth place to get to the following track.

There are also 3 multiplayer modes. The Grand Prix mode plays exactly like the one played in the one player mode, but with a single computer-controlled driver lesser than usual. To get to the following track either one of the players has to rank among the best four. The match Race is one of the typical one-on-one races on any of the tracks and in the Battle Mode, 2 of the players select from the four levels that are particularly designed for a battle mode trying their best to pop three balloons that are surrounding the opposite player with specific items like banana peels or Koopa shells to win. In both the Match Race and Grand Prix modes the racers are free to collect the coins which influence acceleration and top speed. In all the modes, ‘Lakitu’ saves the drivers who go out of the track.

Characters and Reception

The 8 drivers available are classified into four distinct types on the basis of their steering, top speed, acceleration and strength. With its grand release in North America, the Super Maria Kart video game sold very well, eventually becoming a ‘Player’s Choice Million Seller’ title. In the year 2001, Game – Informer ranked the Super Mario Kart game as 35th in the list of its “Top 100 Games of All Times.” Super Mario Kart was also placed 15th on ‘IGN’s Top 100 Games’.

Klonoa For Wii

November 5, 2009 in Articles by Trish

Remakes can be double-edged swords. Sure, it’s fantastic to have old favorites visit us again, newly dressed in the fresh fabrics of current technology. But more often than not, they’re not quite the wonderful experiences we remember them to be, instead revealing that nostalgia has colored our perceptions and memories a bit too much.

Klonoa then is a bit of a risk, being not only a remake of the original PlayStation classic, but a very faithful one to boot. Luckily, its old-school charms have survived the years intact, and while the Wii version will not have the impact that the original had, it consistently delivers the goods.

A two-dimensional platform within a three-dimensional space, Klonoa is set in Phantomile, a gorgeous and ingenious series of twisting and turning paths that are a pleasure to navigate. This 2.5D gameplay is deceptively simple, and effort and persistence are required to fully explore each area and get all collectables. During his adventure, Klonoa visits several regions of Phantomile, which brings a refreshing degree of variety to the game world. All areas are brought to life through simple but crisp and colorful visuals that stand as one of the strongest graphical presentations to be found on the Wii.

Combat encounters are fairly basic and frequent, but never wear out their welcome. Klonoa doesn’t have any overt offensive abilities, but can grab most enemies to use as projectiles against obstacles or other enemies. Grabbed enemies can also be used to double-jump, and this integration of combat and platforming mechanics creates a seamless and coherent gameplay experience. The game is very accessible and never gets particularly challenging, but remains involving enough to keep experienced gamers pleasantly occupied. The adventure is a bit on the short side, with a full playthrough taking at most six hours, yet it remains continuously compelling.

The story doesn’t offer much substance and is bogged down by terrible writing and voice acting, but Klonoa’s gameplay and design are splendid enough to ensure that it stands as a great addition to the Wii library, with no nostalgia required to appreciate it.

4 Basic Tips on How to Play Guitar Hero

October 27, 2009 in Articles by Trish

Guitar Hero

Guitar hero is a game for PlayStation 2, Play station 3, X box 360 and Nintendo Wii where you can play a `guitar` which will be in tune with famous tracks. This requires a good sense of music beats, some patience, and love for a few present songs and most important of all – fast – moving fingers something which you can acquire with practice. Though this may seem to be simple, playing on it can be very challenging, mainly at higher levels.

Four steps on how to play a guitar hero:

1. Know your guitar:

A) There is a strum bar which is in the midpoint of guitar. It can be pushed or pulled up/ down to play any note.

B) The whammy bar can be moved to variate the notes produced.

C) The Start button and the Select buttons are fake volume knobs and they shouldn`t be used to turn down the volume.

D) Right handed people use their left hand for holding the guitar neck and place three/four fingers over the fret buttons, keeping their right hand on the strum bar.

E) If you are willing to sit down and play, then you can put the guitar on the lap and if you want to stand up and play, you need to use a strap. It takes sometime to get used to the guitar and you may even personalise the guitar by using stickers.

2. Starting the game:

First connect your guitar to the console and then switch on the TV, the console, the sound system and then insert your game disk.

A) Career – Here lies the maximum fun of the game; there are nearly thirty five songs across 4 levels which allow you to gather money and fame; as once you complete each set, it will increase your position, letting you proceed with a new bunch of songs. You may buy guitars, songs & characters with your earnings.

B) Quick Play – You can play any unlocked song at any level. It also has a table to show your high-scores.

C) Multiplayer – You need two plugged in controllers for this facility.

D) Tutorial – It`s an introduction that gives you an experience by allowing you to play the simple notes without the demands of a complete song.

E) Options – It is important if the player has a wide-screen. A crucial option is the left-flip which turns if you are a left handed person.

3. Play:

You can play the simplest of all songs and if you already have a basic feel of rhythm, you should try the Medium difficulty first. Go to the menu and select `Quick Play` or `Career`, and then you can choose the song. After a message and advice, related or unrelated; you can see an escalating view of the location, the band and your own avatar with a guitar.

4. Advanced techniques:

Star Power – These notes are visible as spinning stars instead of circles and appear in more grand works of music. A long star note gives you extra power if a whammy bar is used on this. If you score plenty of these you can nail it and go into this mode by tilting up the guitar or pushing Select button. On a temporary basis, it doubles your points which you get from the note and largely raises the popularity rate. So try and use it in consecutive notes.

After entering the Star Mode, you cannot exit until the power meter will drain out, so you have to wait until there are notes appearing, else the Star Power will be wasted. You can also use Star Power to help you get through tough parts of songs that you can`t get through otherwise.

Follow the guidelines given here on how to play a guitar hero and soon you can become an expert in it!

The Endless Appeal Of Puzzle Games

October 26, 2009 in Articles by Trish

Truth be told, no video game can be as appealing as a puzzle game, or have such a wide reach of popularity. Racing games come close, but they falter on one point. Racing games are not much preferred by the older generation. And they are not exactly relaxing, are they? Puzzle games, on the other hand, help in relaxing. After a hard day, you could park yourself in front of the computer and play a good puzzle game such as Bomberman, Bubble Shooter or even the perennially popularity card games, and you will certainly feel the tiredness coursing out through you. But is that the only cause why they are so favor down the generations? Exactly it is not so!

One of the foremost contributions in the success of the puzzle games all over the globe has been by the game download sites on the Internet. Sites that allow you to download games wouldn’t work at all if there were no puzzle games on them. Let us try to know this. They do not have extremely high-end graphics (some of them may have, but they are exceptions to the rule, not the rule itself). Due to their simplistic designing, they carry less MBs. Less MBs means better download speeds. Better download speeds means lower failure levels of the buyers. This puts the all perspective into place. The beginning draw for this games is definitely the fact that the file sizes are small and the downloads are too simple.

But then there is other thing. A very important factor, in fact! puzzle games are extremely addictive. They may seem simple, but they are so very riveting. How many times, when playing these games have you become angry because you could not put a block into site, or could not shoot a bubble pattern with the same color, or could not get up on a ledge because you weren’t able to solve a problem? Many times, no doubt! But have you given up? Never, I am sure! That’s what.

Even if game download sites offer sixty-minute demos of their games, they are almost sure that you will return back as an efficient customer too. So, they become a good bet for the game download sites.

The genre could be larger than the other genres too, but most online game sites vouches for the fact that their puzzle games do much better than their action or adventure games. And that’s a fact for all game download sites all over the globe.

Simplicity, availability and extreme playability, these are three main reasons for the success of puzzle games in the world today. They have captivated generations of gamers, and there’s certainly no indication of them fizzling out in the future.

Fun Free Games

October 26, 2009 in Articles by Trish

Having a party? Or a get together with some friends? Trying to think of things to do for a childrens party? Then get the party going and people interacting by introducing some fun free games. Everyone likes to play games from children to adults and you do n have to hurt your wallet organising a fun day or evening of entertainment. Some of the most enjoyable activities are simple free games like charades and Limbo.

Other free games for children’s parties are:

Simon Says: A simple game where one player plays ‘Simon’ and gives the other players various instructions to do simple tasks prefixed by the phrase ‘ Simon Says’ He then tries to catch the players out by giving them an instruction without saying Simon says beforehand. If a player follows that particular instruction then he is out. The winner is the last person to be left.

Musical Chairs: The players sit on chairs in a ring facing outwards. There should be at least one less chair than there are players. When the music starts the players should start to walk around the circle. When the music stops the players rush to find a free chair to sit on. The person left standing is out and one chair is then removed and the game continues until only one chair is left. Whoever gets to sit on this chair when the music stops is the winner.

Statues: Statues is another simple game. The children have to dance when the music is played and then when it stops they must become as still as statues. Whoever moves until the music starts again is out. The winner is the last player left standing.

Spoon Relay: Some free games are best played in the garden because of the mess the game will make and will also require a good deal of space. When playing spoon relay divide the children into two equal teams. Set up a chair with a bowl of water and a spoon on it for each team. Then a few feet or more away set up two more chairs both with a glass on each. When the whistle blows both sets of teams race to fill the empty glass’s up using the spoons. Players take it in turns until one team wins.

Fun Free Games for Adults The Mating Game: This is a fun and good icebreaker for teens and adults. The game is best played with a good spread of both sexes. Divide the group up into two even groups and hand out slips of paper with animal names written on them. There should be two pieces of paper with the same animal name written on both and one piece should be given to a member of each group. The animals can be whatever you choose snakes, horses, flies, kangaroo, salmon etc. When the game begins people start to act out their animal by flapping, jumping etc and starts searching for their respective animal partner form the other group. Talking is strictly forbidden! The object of the game is to find your animal mate. Once you think you have identified your mate go to the referee who inspects yours pieces of paper. If its not correct, off you go back into the wild to find your real partner.

Spin the Bottle: A classic and very simple game for the more adventurous parties. A good mix of males and females are required A group of players sit around in a circle and the game starts by one person spinning the bottle. Wherever the top of the bottle ends up facing indicates the person who gets kissed. Whoever spun the bottle is the kisser. Skill Games

October 26, 2009 in Articles by Trish

Get a 30-day Free Trial to FunTicket

Games provide hours of fun and pleasure but they can become addictive which isn’t the best thing. Most games have some level of skill and luck involved with their play but all should be enjoyable.

The first game that most of us start with is the simple card game Snap, we then graduate to other card games, puzzles, board games and computer games. Or we may like to play physical games like football, rugby and cricket. My personal favourite physical game is Snooker but I also enjoy the odd game of Pool.

You can learn from games, my father taught me to think one or two steps ahead when we played Snooker. That was learning about strategy and consequences of your actions. The worlds most popular board game Scrabble teaches you how to spell.

I read that the worlds first graphical computer game was created in 1952 – can you believe that? The inventor was A. S. Douglas and it was a version of Tic-Tac-Toe. ‘The game was programmed on a EDSAC vaccuum-tube computer, which had a cathode ray tube display.’

It doesn’t matter how old you are to enjoy games and puzzles. Youngsters learn to count through games and interact with other children in their play. Older folks use games to keep their minds active besides enjoyment. I love games!!
