Pokémon Sapphire

Amazon.co.uk Review
Pokémon Sapphire and Ruby’s updated graphics, with weather effects, amazing sound and more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species, make for a welcome evolution in the series. The game has a lot in common with previous Pokémon games Silver, Gold and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times and the game’s handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. Your main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master, and as before you can trade Pokémon via the Link Cable–both Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire include exclusive Pokémon, and you’ll find that some species are common in one g… More >>

I’ve had Sapphire for nearly two months now, and I’d say it’s probably the best one in the series so far. The new features such as the contests are great, the graphics are better than ever (I know they seem almost identical at first, but try going back to Gold/Silver after a week or two and you’ll see the difference), and the special abilities and 2-on-2 battles add a new dimension to the strategy. There are problems though – loads of the best pokemon from previous games don’t appear, a couple of secret features need the E-card reader (which isn’t even out in the UK yet), and many features from previous games are gone. Still, this is the best pokemon game yet, and well worth a try.

wow, this is cool, but it has gone a bit far a bit fast, if you’ve played the previous games you’ll know what I mean. But saying that you’ll never want to return to the original rby and gsc series’. One thing, it’s only for one player, allthough you can have link battles, record mixing and berry blending with up to 3 others via a link cable. Unfortunately trades can only occur between 2 players, but what does that matter. Buy this game, and you won’t be disapponited, althoughmaybe a little bit, because it does’nt link to the old games, and the storyline has moved quite rapidly ahead.

This is a great follow up from the last pokemon games, this allows you to go to way different levels and do loads more things! As you already know there are 100 more pokemon than last time, making it harder to CATCH ‘EM ALL! On this game you can again be a girl or a boy, also you being allowed to choose what you look like. Once again you start off in a new land then your allowed abck into JOTHO and KANTO to catch the other pokemon. Like all the other games there are legendary pokemon to catch the main features of this one are 3 dogs (again) steal type, rock type and dark type! I really recommend this game bad sadly can’t be played on a GameBoy Colour only on the ADVANCE and the *NEW* ADVANCE SP!! which has great colours and graphics on!!

I got this game in Singapore on April 20th. This is way better than pokemon crystal. There’s no more team rocket, but instead there is team aqua and team magma insttead. There is even MORE pokemon in the game so I had to get used to all the new names.
The two on two battles are really good too, but the seventh gym has two gym leaders and they’re really hard to beat. I also like making a secret base and someone in the game has something to do with secret bases so talk to everyone in the game.

The only drawbacks are thet you can only trade with ruby and sapphire and some of the cheats from crystal, gold and silver don’t work, like for instance, making copies of pokemon for trading rare pokemon or giving the pokemon an item like rare candy or master ball and making a copy of the pokemon and the item it’s holding.
DON’T LET THIS PUT YOU OFF! This is a really good game so BUY IT!

I have been a big fan of the previous Pokémon games and therefore I started Sapphire with fresh mood. This game, however, didn’t come up to my expectations. In Pokémon Gold and Silver, it was still possible to catch 251 Pokémon, whereas the number now stops at 200. That said, the worst thing is that Nintendo has deleted most of the best old Pokémon, and has put in new ones instead. They are terrible! Especially the new legendary Pokémon don’t even approach the level that Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres used to achieve. The graphics are bitter too. Although they are well made, they don’t give you the distressing feeling which came over you in Red and Blue walking through one of the caves (which also have disappeared). The only improvement there can be seen in the enlargement of the screen font. The sound fails, too. Where are the happy tunes of the older games? The 2-on-2 fights don’t add anything to the game. They are the almost no different and they almost don’t show up. In spite of this all I found it nevertheless worthwile to play Pokémon Sapphire. Although the good things of the old games has disappeared, it remains exciting to discover a new city and the game has gained in depth on other things, like the improved pack and Pokédex and the addition of Pokémon contests. If you haven’t yet played the older games, it is certainly advisable to play Sapphire. Even when you HAVE played them, but be prepared to some major disappointments
