I thought it would be fun, but it’s really not. It’s really boring, that’s all.

Scribblenauts is a pretty unusual puzzle game. You solve problems by writing a word and summoning an object. If you need to chop down a tree summon an axe, chainsaw or maybe a termite. The levels, which can last from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, have a par set on them (you can go over par but the ideas not to). Once you complete a level you can go back and try it 3 more times to score extra Ollars (money). However you cant use the same items when repeating these levels. The idea of repeating the levels is to try and make you thing outside the box (it can get tricky).

There’s some clever interaction between some of the things you summon. Devils will fight Angels (or God if you want to summon him). Summon a Werewolf then get some silver chuck it at the Werewolf and it will turn back into a human. Scare Trick or Treaters with a ghost or if you’re feeling nice give them sweets. You could spend ages just messing about finding out what you can summon and what it will interact with.

There are a few control issues but this can be worked around. The AI is also a bit weak (drop an item you need and someone blocks it its a nightmare getting them to move).

There are a lot of objects to summon (about 20,000) but some you just wont ever need (this doesn’t mean you still cant have fun with them)

Scribblenauts could be pretty dull if you just try to complete the levels with the most basic and obvious options. If you put some thought it to it you’ll have fun and you’ll be amazed at what you can summon.

A few frustrations aside Scribblenauts is a fun and challenging game.

Well when I read all the reviews for this game, here on Amazon and also on other games sites, I was sure it would be the BEST GAME EVER!!! …how wrong I was! I found it repetitive and difficult to navigate. The main character you control with your stylus is quite difficult to move around with any accuracy, and the menu system is also a bit rubbish.

The graphics are ‘rough’ and ‘wooden’ looking – like a small child’s drawings, which I didn’t like.

As for the game-play, it is slow, and pretty mundane. The items you command in order to help you get to the starite and pass the level are also difficult to control and use with ease.

Very disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone other than a little kid, who wouldn’t be able to play anyway due to lack of vocabulary and ability to write or spell!!!!

    Avoid!

  5. Wow! likely to be the most incredible game you’ve ever played!!!

    you like problem solving?

think of something – write it – it appears – you can use it to solve the puzzle.

my 14 year old can’t put it down
