Sony Playstation Portable – a Quick PSP Review

Some time ago, Sony, the company responsible for making the PlayStation, analyzed the portable market and perhaps thought it might  be good to design their own portable console.

During this time, Nintendo already had a strong brand, of course, this established brand being Nintendo’s well-recognized and loved GameBoy portable system. Also during this point in time, Nintendo let the gaming world know of a new system they planned on releasing, the DS. So basically, Sony convinced themselves, and even hinted at in some ways, that the Sony PlayStation Portable would pretty much make the GameBoy and DS systems of the past.

Getting right to the point, that just wasn’t the way things panned out. Now let me talk about the Sony PSP for a bit. First things first, the actual hardware, pleasing to the eyes to say the least. It’s got a beautiful, high-resoulution screen. Software title or videogames are played on what is known as the UMD format. Essentially mini-dvd’s. You also use UMD’s to watch movies on the Sony PSP (Sony PlayStation Portable for short).

Other things you can do is surf the net, listen to your favorite music, and more. Just talking about hardware alone, it’s delicious, if you know what I mean. It’s great to look at, it’s got the best looking graphics so far on the market, etc. Somehow though, Sony’s expectations weren’t met, and Nintendo was still clearly in the game.

This maybe happened because, simply, they didn’t just focus on the games. Different forms of entertainment were put in one system. It could have just been that, when it comes to gaming, this isn’t a good idea. Also, the Sony PSP (Sony PlayStation Portable for short) doesn’t really cater to people looking for “gaming on the go.” This is because the PSP (PlayStation Portable for short) is more like a home console instead of a portable one. There you have it. Hope you liked this article.
